Project Summary

The M.C. Escher Tessellation toy is a hands-on design project centered on the geometry of tessellation. Its interlocking pieces can be arranged into repeating patterns, giving users a playful way to investigate symmetry, spatial relationships, and pattern-making.

The project combines mathematical concepts with physical product design to create an approachable creative experience. Additional development details, photographs, and demonstrations will be added as the project progresses.

This recreation of M.C. Escher’s *Lizard* tessellation consists of 16 individual pieces, with eight pieces in each color. The separate interlocking pieces can be rearranged and assembled in different orientations, allowing the tessellating pattern to be explored as a hands-on geometric puzzle rather than as a fixed image.
